Storm Water

When it rains, all metal companies in California must be prepared with a storm water permit, storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), and best management practices (BMPs).

Facilities must also monitor storm water run-off, test the run-off for specified substances, and report these findings through a myriad of forms and filings.

This program is part of the Clean Water Act, and promulgated by the state through the Industrial General Permit.

In 1992, the California Metals Coalition (CMC) established a state-recognized storm water compliance group for its members. The companies that participate in our storm water group receive sampling discounts and reductions, legal and regulatory guidance, and direct technical oversight for all filings and compliance requirements. Participants also receive site-specific training in accordance with the California General Industrial Permit for storm water pollution prevention measures. CMC is proud to offer members a cost-effective solution for storm water regulatory challenges.
